Lipton Yellow Label Tea Review

When it comes to black tea, Lipton yellow label tea is one of the most known brands. A simple Google search will return thousands of reviews, essentially, we believe, due to its reliable, simple, and aromatic taste. We made this Lipton yellow label tea review for those of you who haven’t tried this classic tea brand.

Lipton yellow label tea is perhaps one of the most seen tea brands, a favorite breakfast drink for many, and a great pick-me-up for the odd tea breaks within the day. It’s a classic, strong, black tea blend. It’s something you would want to have after a particularly greasy meal. That means it might be perfect for preventing your stomach from bloating.

Tasting Notes

Many people have had Lipton yellow label tea since they were young. It has been around for quite a while and is a staple in many pantries. Looking at the pack alone may invoke fond memories of ‘the good old days.’

Lipton, the UK-based brand of tea owned by Ekaterra, likens the tea to “the sun” and that it will give you “a gentle lift that will brighten your day.” It has the same basic, strong, and classic taste of black tea, with the added versatility of having it cold or hot and with or without milk and sweeteners.

If you are feeling whimsically inventive, you can try enhancing the flavor with spices such as cinnamon or fenugreek. This classic tea requires less water to brew and often gives a thick, flavorful structure. Unlike many other black tea varieties in this category and price range, Lipton yellow label tea will get stronger the longer you soak it and give you that ‘hydrated’ feeling when you drink it. If you struggle to drink water, you can use it as a flavor.

Brewing Instructions for Lipton Yellow Label Tea

Lipton yellow label tea comes in both loose leaf form and teabags. However, having it in loose form is probably recommended since you will have a lot more control over how strong you want it.

On the other hand, the teabags come with a string and a piece of paper attached at the end. This may come in handy after steeping the tea and when you want to extract the bag using a spoon and you are forced to dip your finger into the scalding hot water to snare the bag.

Here are some simple brewing instructions you can use:

  • Steep the bag for around 5 minutes
  • Add evaporated milk which is highly recommended since the result is very different from cream (skip the milk if you want to drink it clean).
  • Add sugar
  • Voila! Enjoy a rich cup of rich and smooth English tea.

Lipton Yellow Label Tea Review - Final Thoughts

Lipton yellow label tea has been around for more than 100 years, which does indicate that it’s appreciated worldwide as a premium black tea. It has the classic taste of black tea you’d expect but with a subtle sweetness and none of the usual bitterness. It’s comparatively cheaper than many other brands in the category, and the fact that you can consume it with milk, cream, or blend it with different flavors of black tea makes it an absolute must-have in the pantry.
