What Is Taro Milk Tea and What Does It Contain

Oh, tea! We love it so much here at Sin Columna that we're more than willing to try every type of tea at least once. For example, for a long while, we wondered "what is taro tea" (as the drink was getting increasingly popular). Now we know.

Want to learn more about taro milk tea?

Read on and find out everything you need to know about this new type of tea (your tea blog detectives did their research!).

What Is Taro Milk Tea?

To understand what is taro milk tea, you should first understand what is taro. Put simply (and shortly), taro is a root vegetable that is often used in Asian cuisine. It has a creamy and slightly sweet flavor, which makes it perfect for tea.

Milk tea is a type of tea that is made with milk and typically has a sweeter flavor than regular black tea. Taro milk tea combines these two delicious flavors into one drink, providing you with a real treat.

Most often, taro milk tea is sold as boba tea (and in case you don't know what boba tea is, it's tea that has tapioca balls added to it). However, you can also find taro tea without the tapioca added to it.

What Is Taro Milk Tea

Is Taro Milk Tea Healthy?

Well, this is a very important question. Tea is healthy from a wide range of perspectives. For example, it can help with weight loss, improve mental clarity and cognitive function, and has anti-inflammatory properties.

But what about taro milk tea? Is it healthier than other types of milk tea?

The answer to this question is a little unclear. Taro milk tea does have the added benefit of containing taro, which is delicious and comes with some health benefits. Some of the more commonly touted health benefits of taro include improved heart health, better blood sugar control, and improved digestion.

However, taro milk tea also contains milk and sugar, both of which have their own set of potential health risks. So, while taro milk tea is healthier than some other types of milk tea, it's not as healthy as pure tea without any additives.

As we always say here at Sin Columna, sweetened tea simply takes the "power" from tea. Sugar is definitely unhealthy and if you like having your tea with a lot of it (or a lot of other sweeteners, really), you might want to reconsider your options. Get your tea simple and you will not only learn to love it, but also learn how great it makes you feel!
